Conservative West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner Candidate, John Campion has today welcomed the commitment from chancellor George Osborne that Police spending will be protected in real terms.
John says, “I am delighted that the Chancellor has recognised the hard and vital work our police do keeping our communities safe, and that the Conservative Government has chosen to protect its' funding in these difficult financial times.
“We can’t rest on our laurels though; West Mercia needs leadership from its Commissioner and his Deputy to drive through true back office reform, cutting red tape and freeing our hard working police officers to serve our community.
“I pledge if elected to not only have the ear of local MPs and Government to make sure we get our fair share of resources but to give that leadership in supporting a wide-ranging transformation programme. Back office reform is vital so we can continue to divert more funding to tackle growing issues such as extremism and cyber-crime as well as protecting front line policing.
